It’s a bit different to “traditional” Physics books, in that it doesn’t set out to teach you all the complex laws of the universe. It was recommended to me by my science teacher, and ever since reading it in Year 10, I’ve found that I understand what’s going on in the news a lot better, and I can now back up my opinions with scientific facts. You’ll find out, for example, why a terrorist with a nuclear bomb isn’t as scary as you might have thought, and how preventing global warming may just be possible. The book takes you through subjects from terrorism to space exploration, and explains the facts behind the media’s exaggerations – after reading it, you’ll be able to understand what’s actually going on. Physics for Future Presidents uses this as a basis to explain the Physics that’s behind the news, explaining to you what’s really going on (so you don’t need aspirations of being Prime Minister for it to be relevant to you!). I would adopt it for my course with no reservations.Imagine you’ve just been elected as the leader of a country… what do you think you need to know? Economics? Law? Negotiation? How about Physics? It underlies the workings of the entire universe, and without a knowledge of Physics, it’s impossible to fully understand subjects that define the world, from fixing global warming to the risks of nuclear power to preventing terrorism. Kudos for not having too much unnecessary entertainment, side panels, activities and the like. Matthew Srnec, Franciscan University of Steubenville

I’ve also found the solutions manual to be very helpful, and the notes to the instructor and suggested lecture breakdowns are a phenomenal tool….There is no reason that this book shouldn’t become the face of algebra-based physics going forward!” The strong narrative text coupled with effective examples and problems provides an excellent resource for college physics students at my institution.” “This is a stream-lined and cost-effective college physics book that is very well-written.

I could not be more pleased with the content of this text.” It has been perfect for the needs of my students, providing succinct and clear explanations of all necessary concepts without either skimping on derivations or getting lost on pointless rabbit trails. “College Physics has been an outstanding text overall. for undertaking this important challenge.” “A briefer, less detailed, and more affordable textbook is keenly needed for the introductory, algebra-based physics course. This textbook is a ground-breaking iconoclast in this market, answering a clear demand from physics instructors for a clearer, shorter, more readable and less expensive introductory textbook. features optional online homework from WebAssign.

retains key textbook elements that are truly useful, such as worked examples, summaries and plenty of chapter-ending problems.handles common student misconceptions in difficult topics by weaving them into the narrative.keeps students engaged with a friendly and even occasionally humorous writing style, and droll illustrations.tells the students what they need to know to solve the homework and test problems without a lot of unnecessary puffery. When the authors break away to introduce a worked example, it is introduced in the text and is directly related to the subject preceding it. features a clear and streamlined narrative.College Physics: Putting It All Together: Although it covers the traditional topics in the traditional order, this book is very different from its over-inflated and overpriced competitors.

College Physics: Putting It All Together is an algebra-based physics text designed for the first year, non-calculus college course.
